Godiva Unsigned launched!

Hi all

Just to let you know this year's Godiva Unsigned competition, giving four bands the opportunity to perform on the main stage of the Godiva Festival, has now been launched.

We've made the entry process a lot easy this year, with interested bands simply needing to upload an mp3 to the festival site. Together with a revised voting process and judging panel, this years competition is all set for a new lease of life.

This year the Godiva Unsigned is open to wider audience to include bands from both Warwickshire and the West Midlands, so competition is expected to be tough! If you think you've got what it takes, now's your chance to come forward!

Closing date: Friday 26th March

Not just an exclusive thing to help the Cov bands out anymore i guess.

Typical on the first year we're in a position to enter.

Hopefully you'll bloody love our one uploaded track then!

the fact that a brum based recording studio has been added to the judging panel may raise a few eyebrows of the cynics

Hmmm.. How do you know that, and it's not Robanna's is it?

I like the way they changed it to be fair, seems more open to me and i like the online voting aspect as well. Will be more of an accomplishment to be in the 40 then 20 picked too, so to my mind it lends more weight to the value of winning even a place in the heats. That to me is where a BoTB should be, the place everyone wants to be.

We'll endeavour to keep it fair and not
dominated by a particular region. We're making sure the judging panel will have representatives from both Warwickshire and the West Midlands to avoid any bias too.

can we run a book on how many applicants, i think last year was 120 ish?

i reckon close to 400 will enter this year, with the majority being young Cov based bands or out of towners.

i'm involved in a couple of other local scenes outside of Cov and i've told 5 bands who i get on well with about this as a favour cos they are helping me out. the rest can do one and find out of their own accord!

From this moment on im going to try and forget all things godiva festival, we've applied, its been one of our main goals to play the event we grew up going to year on year. Now it's become crazy hard to get in, just happens to be the year we apply. Good luck to all bands. Im not thinking about it, just going to focus on Keresley who are trying to give us unsigned Cov bands a help. Gotta be nearly 1000 friends...line up time..

its never been easy to do well! certainly not the ones i've been involved with (2007-2009), in fact it can get quite stressful cos of the prize involved

but yeah its defo got an added complexity this year as there will be more unknowns etc

i noticed last night the voting has returned to each member voting their favourite 4, this always leads to a tactical voting type discussion after the event!

you're doing the right thing to enter then forget about it!

Submit your CD. What's the worst that could happen?

If you can 'get through' the CD selection and generate a big enough crowd for your heats, you're in with as much chance as anyone.

TIP: it MAY help if you can get somebody involved in the competition to wear your t-shirt and tout for votes for you
