Hmm, actually, considering who the effigy is to resemble, i'd say that that is an insult to your back end. [/cat out of bag]

Re: Keresley Rock Festival - Sat 18th July
did everyone have a lovely time then? How did the camping go?
I personally had a great day, lots of lazing about in the sun and watching bands, a nice chilled out day.
Not sure how the attendance related to what the organisers expected but there seemed plenty of people there, just a shame for a lot of the bands that most attendees were happy enough sitting outside in the sun rather than in the tent, so although they were playing to a lot of people, they couldn't see them, which was wierd, though the crowd did look like it was starting use the tent a bit more as tea time approached.
cheers to the organisers anyway, a massive undertaking to put that kind of thing on, hopefully it was worth it? We certainly enjoyed the day anyway

Re: Keresley Rock Festival - Sat 18th July
oh, and a shout out to a few of the bands too...
The giveaway - good enthusiastic band with lots of energy despite the early time slot
The Shards - Their own tunes are really really good, should just stick to them with maybe only one cover, surely a band to watch
Fiori - Looked the business as usual, it was like 'right, now heres a proper band!' a really cut above
King hermit - Really tight as fuck these days, the newer tunes really make the set, bit annoyed at being hit by seans stick at the end, but thats a private issue, i'll beat him up in my own time

Re: Keresley Rock Festival - Sat 18th July
We didn't bother camping in the end, lots of people decided not to bother so might as well just sleep at home.
But the festival was great, started off a little slow but around 5 it really picked up and was mental by the time Just Morale went on, i literally don't know how that band have so many followers but they're obviously doing something right.
Good work by all, despite the hiccups in starting they managed to get back on track perfectly. Well done to John, Dick, Myke, Ciaran and Mike P, oh and Kelly for doing the merch stall, we managed to sell a handful of Tees so it worked out pretty good.
Next year will be even better there.

Re: Keresley Rock Festival - Sat 18th July
I had a great day despite certain things not going to plan and things being changed at the last minute (but then again this is live music)
I was supposed to have 4/5 techs and stage hands under my guidance but it ended up being just me and Dave Lipshock doing all the changeovers and stage movements but i think we done alright considering the average changeover was 4 minutes
I didnt think i'd have anywhere near the energy to do that from 7 in the morning until 1 at night along with doing straight sets with Reubens and MBE but seemed to pull it off, suffering now though!!!
Nice one to John, Dick, Myke, Mike, Kelly, Fez and Dave as well as all the bands, i cant wait for next year as long as i have some say in the lineup and running order next time.

Re: Keresley Rock Festival - Sat 18th July
I've just woke up!! Ha ha!
It was all organised in too short a time scale, we were under-staffed and under-crewed and Dick was doing his best to give me heart attack number 2!
But what a day!! It all went off brilliantly!
I have to take my hat off to old Dicky boy - his pure passion and tenacity drove the whole thing along.
Thanks to everyone involved in making it happen - I'm very proud to have worked with you guys - Myke, Mikey P, Fez, Dave Cooper, and Ciaran - for a tubby Irishman you were a bit of alright mate, good job.
Biggest thanks of all goes to the bands themselves - at the end of the day, you can set up the biggest and best gig in the world, but it's the quality of the acts that really makes it. Throughout the day the quality was utterly stunning.
I've been around young bands for years and so I'm fully aware of the kind of quality that's out there in this area. But even I was totally blown away by the standard we saw yesterday.
I had a guy come up to me who had been there all day and he said that in his experience of these type of events, you generally get a lot of mediocre bands with one or two good ones, but he said that throughout the whole day he hadn't seen one band who he didn't thoroughly enjoy.
There were quite a few bands on the bill who have been around for a long time and I didn't think they could actually get any better. But God was I wrong! But one thing that really struck me (and I don't know if anyone else noticed this) was the really high quality of the new young bands on the line up.
Anyway, thanks everyone.
