Keresley/Godiva etc - A call for focus
There has been much anger and disappointment recently over the Godiva Unsigned competition's shift to a Birmingham emphasis. The majority on this site and beyond feel, quite justifiably, let down by CVOne's approach.
However, all the shouting in the world isn't going to change what is a done deal. The Godiva Festival, many feel, has now been taken away from the musicians and the people of Coventry. This is unlikely to change now. After all, it's not like we live in a democracy or anything is it.
So, where do we go from here?
Keresley Festival is no substitute for Godiva and we've never claimed it is. But it IS an opportunity for our local musicians to have their own day where they can shine and show people something else that Cov & Warks can be very proud of.
The time has come to move forward and focus on making our own 'day in the sunshine'.
We all need to focus on letting THE PUBLIC know that there IS somewhere that we CAN celebrate Coventry and its talent.
Whether you're playing the festival or not, helping us make this year's Keresley Festival special is a real benefit to ALL musicians in the area. This isn't about money, or politics, or empire building. This is about MUSIC and about COVENTRY - straight from the hearts of people who care about both - us and YOU.
More than 2,500 people joined the 'CVOne Stole Our Festival' Facebook group. That's 2,500 people who WANT to see you perform this summer and I reckon that's just the tip of the iceberg.
That's a good start, so let's build on it together.

do you have an offical facebook event set up for this yet? I've been pimping the 'EE play keresley' one cos i've not seen an offical one as yet
good call though.
Is the Crew tent finalised yet? with whats happened at Godiva it would be ace for bands like Shackletons/Reubens Cane and all the other bands who missed out on both to be given the chance to do an outdoor event this year.

There is a facebook group which is linked on the front page of this site Rig.
The Crew tent is being finalised now, but is purely alternative. So no real scope for the more mainstream bands to play that.
However, as we speak, we are talking through some ideas that may provide a solution and an additional opportunity.
More on that over the next couple of days hopefully

Great post at the top of this, well said!!
How about an acoustic stage/tent/platform, whatever? Cov has some great acoustic artists too, and we would definitely be up for playing that..
Either way, whatever happens, I'll be out enjoying the day - and taking Reubens to the cleaners in a drinking contest !!
