Keresley Festival a.k.a. 'Brownload'
Again, apologies for the lack of news recently but we've all been flat out trying to run businesses as well as organising this - not an easy balancing act!
Still, everything we needed in place is now in place and the festival will open on Friday evening with a local line up of epic proportions on the main stage and (fingers crossed - Rig! Help!) some sort of DJ night going on in the Crew Tent.
Promo has started in earnest, albeit a little late, but we're not too worried about this as long as we can rely on massive support on tinternet which is where most of the talk about this seems to be going on.
Running times will be notified very soon and Ciaran will be in touch with all bands to get a stage spec from you - please help him out by responding as quickly as possible to his requests - no stage plan means you get on stage and play a washboard and triangle with crocodile clips on your nadgers.
Going back to Friday night - We have a killer line up planned, assuming the various bands are up for doing it - we will be messaging bands shortly to ask if they would like to do it. I know it's late on in the proceedings but we've only just confirmed we can actually do it. I was thinking perhaps it should be called the "Not The Godiva Local Stage" or the "Not The Brum Night"
- ONLY JOKING!!
I'm going to be doing some e-flyers, so I wanted to ask if we can rely on you all to spread this around the net like a dose of cyber genital warts?

Certainly. I also know a good DJ if you need one, let me know if so.

think there's some confusion/crossed wires mate about how much involvement i have. Not been asked outright to be involved, suggest all requests to play go to the event organisers?

Maybe people would pay more attention to you if you werent anonomous because at the moment you seem like a member of one of the "much better" bands having a whinge

cant beat a lively debate eh ... cant please all of the people all of the time.
The Kontours are ready and geared up though should Keresley need a last minute replacement for any band who may or may not have a bassist or be on after or before much better bands....ohh musician's can be a funny lot eh.

This isn't about who's 'better' or 'best'. It isn't a pecking order of bands. It's about giving a balanced day of quality music so that everybody gets an audience - not just the more established/experienced acts.
Look at the other stage line-up. There are some incredible bands in there who are on earlier than their abilities and experience suggest they should be. But that's the whole point - the quality and experience gets spread throughout the day.
Who's better than who is a very subjective opinion and consequently one that I'm not qualified to argue on or take any interest in - my respect for musicians is equal regardless of genre or ability and that's part of the reason why 42 acts this summer have a chance to play on the kind of stage at the kind of event they probably won't get a sniff at for the rest of the year.
I frankly don't give a fuck where my band plays or if nobody watches us - just having the chance (for once) to play one of my stages is enough for me. It's a good attitude to adopt because let's face it, none of us are rock stars yet and gigs like this are thin on the ground.
However, if you do feel strongly that the running order is unfair, we will understand if you wish to pull your band out (assuming you're in one of the bands) and give the opportunity to a band on the reserve list. Please email info@keresleyrockfestival.co.uk if you do wish to withdraw.

Yes Ross - the most up to date one is on the K2010 website at www.keresleyrockfestival.co.uk
The one exception is that This/Broadcast have had to pull out at the last minute and have been replaced by Russian Gundogs from the reserve list
Re: Keresley Festival a.k.a. 'Brownload'
Just noticed that Friday's times aren't updated on the K2010 website.
The thing with this festival is that there is something for everyone and at the end of the day that's what a festival is all about. You look at the acts over the 2 days and there is plenty of quality established bands, plenty of new talent and most of all covering such a wide range of tastes. At the end of the day "Rock" is such an open ended genre at this festival caters for that wide range of sound. This years lineup seems to have been very carefully and thoughtfully put together so well done. I'm working on Saturday else i'd be sticking around for the whole thing but i shall be sticking around after my set for the rest of the Friday night.

Russian Gun Dogs are really good; not seen This\Broadcast but was looking forward to seeing them.
John - this change hasn't affected running order, has it?
