Re: Godiva Fringe
I'm confused now (easily done) when do Idle Playthings play and when do England play? because i thought, Idle Playthings were on the Sat afternoon and that England pay on Sunday afternoon? is this not the case then?.
Re: Godiva Fringe
Nope, Saturday.
Sunday is the second round match, IF they win that then their Quarter final will be the following Saturday.

Sorry Dan, "of" instead of "have" is a pet hate of mine.

If I'm totally honest, I don't remember typing it. I'm just happy that it came out as three complete words.

If England are playing in the Quarter Finals that day, you will need another bass player

Re: Godiva Fringe
just wondering if anyone who uses this board attended the fringe event last friday?
attendance was great all day/night, slightly disappointed that some bands who didn't play gave the event a wide berth.
be great to get some feedback on what we did and whether people thought it was a good/bad idea etc and whether you'd like to see the fringe return in 2011
cheers!

Re: Godiva Fringe
Me and stu came along in the evening and both really enjoyed it. The event seemed really well organised and all involved should be praised. First time I'd seen the bellows too, really impressed by them. Would be interested as to how the day went as a whole.

Re: Godiva Fringe
I was there from Reuben's Cane onwards - was a v. good vibe I thought - and crucially it was a good cross section of peeps, young, older/maturer, (ie. 40's, 50's) which all felt great to me
how to make other gigs more this way I wonder?? The world's crazy about marketing to young audiences, but maybe it's just audiences full stop that count - people came down as well I think there cos they obviously felt it was a safe environment, it was well organised, properly scheduled, and visible on a coherent well presented website which I think makes a whole load of difference - the Godiva Festival/CV One link clearly helps, but there may be a way to piggy back on this and promote future gigs outside of the Godiva thing, but alongside CV One, or at least with their sanction -
Should def happen again - good work and cheers to everyone involved

Re: Godiva Fringe
it was a top night and really well organsised. the venue is really cool and should be used more for this sort of thing. I think the only thing that was lacking was any signage from the Godiva people so you could link both events, also I popped over to the main site on the Friday night and there was no fringe lineup included on the godiva line up flyers. in fact there wasnt anything about the fringe event??
Re: Godiva Fringe
cheers mate
yeah we could have done with some banners to promote the relationship to CV One/Godiva, we asked on the morning but there were none available.
never really expected us to be in the literature on the park, we only had 6 weeks to finalise all the detail i imagine a lot of the printing was already being written up and sent for printing and our line ups weren't finalised until 3 weeks ago. happy though that the Fringe was on press releases and online via their website, twitter and facebook.
we will be adding on the list of to do's though if we decide to carry on into 2011.
sitting down with CV One in a couple of weeks time for a review
I do know that the whole of the Belgrade is available in 2011, rather than B2 and outside

Re: Godiva Fringe
As far as I can see it, the hard work of actually getting the first one organised and out the way seems to have been the hard part. The success of it surely paves the way for you to build on it and provide future events based around a local platform for bands around the Godiva festival. I certainly hoe it does as it can only be a positive thing, maybe next year we can chuck our hat in the ring and be part of it!

Re: Godiva Fringe
Cv1 havnt said anything about it via Facebook, plenty of stuff commending the 80s night, i tought that was a bit off. Maybe by applauding it they are proving themselves wrong?
