This doesn't bode well for a BOTB this same promoter is running in the summer methinks...

To be honest, I think if you spoke to the other bands that played they might say it was a good gig - it's just that, by playing last, we ended up with the sh*tty end of the stick. And it might have been a one-off, the promoter did say he was having some "personal problems".

yeah that's the downside to going on last with a slack promoter. its their place to step in & tell bands how long to play/if they've run out of time- is a bit harsh if you're expected step in and tell some other band you hardly know to get off...or to just lose out on set time as in this case. obviously up to the bands to show some respect too though.
another common trait is the first band on stalling (or disappearing!) as the crowd is a bit thin (or non existent!). this is understandable to a point but some promoters/bands don't account for the knock on effect for the last band who will then be pushed back to the wee hours & actually end up playing to the smallest crowd!

Electric Slim wrote:Our night at the Kasbah went ok. Two drum kits on the side room stage though.. I was practically sitting on the sunshine undergrounds bass drum, and penned in either side of massive amps. never seen a stage so full. That and the 30second sound check wasnt great, but pretty good crowd, and as ever we did the best that we could..tough to get a good sound.
Its also nice when your bass drum pedal falls off mid song
Couldn't make it to your show Saturday (tore chest muscles, ouch!), but my lady attended & said you guys we're quite good, a more than usual sound, good, different in the best of ways.
Having seen a video, i agree.

Nooooo, we have a witness to our shoddy performance! We didnt play particularly tight shall we say, and colly is a bugger to get the sound right, and a near pointless soundcheck was never going to help. But thank you for the compliment. If we slightly impressed on poor form, then we'll take that quite nicely!
