Ah yes. The Kasbah..... I remember it well.......... stale piss and cheap perfume......... the sound of vomiting and 14 year old girls offering a blow job for an alcopop........ dodging coke dealers and bullets to get to the kebab van........ ah, the good old days - where DID they go?........

really like the Lazarus sound - reminds me of classic/early Cure and the Robert Smith like vocals - v good stuff.

You know it's a bad sign when the promoter is full of apologies at the end of the night l o l even our drummer got angry!

why is it that if you write "l o l " (one word) it gives abuse to someone who regularly posts on this site?!?!

Sorry for not making it down, am moving house so currently super-skint!

It was just really badly organised - the 1st band was meant to start at 7:30 but they didn't end up going on til about 8:30 (partly because the promoter turned up late), so everyone's set got cut down. Then the 2nd from last band on played a really long set and didn't finish til 10:35 - so we did a 5minute changeover and had a 20min set before the curfew. The promoter was nowhere to be seen when the 2nd from last band on were over-running so there no-one to tell them they should have finished. And I think it's just common courtesy for the bands to stick around and watch the others on the bill - it's fair enough if you've got to go but if you're staying til the end of the night anyway - at least have the decency to watch the bands playing!

Rant over - glad I got that off my chest but I think we just had a bad experience last night. I've heard good things about the promoter and his gigs and from what he was saying last night I think it was a one-off that we were shit on. So I think it was just one of those things... On the plus side, the sound guy was good and a really nice bloke, the quality of the bands was good, equipment was good, friendly atmosphere etc etc just annoying when you spend a Saturday night doing this and come away feeling like we did

a pet hate of mine when a band before you extends their set, knowing the night is already running late

Our night at the Kasbah went ok. Two drum kits on the side room stage though.. I was practically sitting on the sunshine undergrounds bass drum, and penned in either side of massive amps. never seen a stage so full. That and the 30second sound check wasnt great, but pretty good crowd, and as ever we did the best that we could..tough to get a good sound.

Its also nice when your bass drum pedal falls off mid song

pet gripe of mine the way bands piss off - the last place we played in Brum a band who'd been on got their gear off stage and placed it just down centre of the stage - when the next band was on they started to haul their gear out the room right in front of them and the punters. Fucking rude - more than anything don't those sort of bands have any curiousity abut the other bands they're sharing the room with?
