New Rock/Metal venue in Coventry City Centre

Hi Folx,

We will soon be opening a new Rock/Metal pub in the centre of Coventry. Bands please email tfmcoventry@live.co.uk for more information.

We are a 100 capacity venue and willing to negotiate fees. We do not charge bands for the privallage of playing. We do not charge door prices.

But I'm afraid I can't actually mention the venue name or address until Monday, as there were two other people that were interested in it that need to be let down nicely...... but once contracts are finalised on Monday, I'll let the world know! (and the next one for good measure!)

What I can say is that is was part of the 'Earlsdon Run'......

After all, a new venue opening rather than one closing has GOT to be news.

It's OK I've seen it now on Facebook, The Green Room on Spon St. Is that next to that other new bar Laugh Out Loud, which in turn is next to the Tin Angel?

We'll be changing the name 'The Green Room' back to it's old name (no, not Flares....The Rising Sun).

So along that side (opposite the Shakespear) you have us, the Halifax Club, LOL & the Tin Angel.

Good luck with the new venture, heaven knows this city needs more venues.

Sweet, hope you not sticking to the metal vibe though, mix it up abit, get all sorts playing.

And sod the Cross, they can go down the putting on Covers bands that will see them through but forgets about the local talent that needs an outlet. Different nights for differents types could very wel work. When do you open to the public? I'd like to see what you've got going.

Musically, we'll be covering all genres of 'Rock' from 60's classics such as the Stones all the way through to the more extreme genres of metal. So please, if you are a 'Madchester' covers band....don't get in touch!

We will occasionally book 'Covers' bands, but usually only because the band we have booked has had to cancel at short notice....

As for Opening, we are planning our 'Grand Opening' on Friday 5th & Saturday 6th of June, although, if the stock arrives in time, we may be open a couple of dyas in advance, but no music before the evening of Thursday 4th!

As for 'special nights' or other themed stuff, we are trying to move away from that kind of thing, however, working with the other venues, we will try to put on more extreme bands on one night of the first weekend (So as not to conflict with 'Whisky''s classic rock) and more 'Alternative' genres (Goth?) on one night during the second weekend (so as not to conflict with 'Thrash Can') however, we can't promise particular days, or even these being regular...it depends on when the bands are available!

We will be looking at the possibility of 'Charity' events, where we would normally have a number of bands playing, but with these, their will be a small door price, with it all going to charity. (In communication with SOPHIE, Rock Against Child Porn, National Association of Bikers with Disabilities, British Legion etc.)

Sounds good then, i'll come down to a gig to check it out.

If the crew in Nuneaton is anything to go by then a metal/rock pub will go down a storm, when it first opened I thought it didn't stand a chance in crappy chavvy Nuneaton, but it's rammed every week, a great success story. Whether it works in Cov is a different matter of course, lets hope so anyway

The Crew is busy at weekends because its the only place in town that serves till 2am and allows people dressed in whatever. Can be a good night/few hours in there though.

The worst thing about it (imo) is the decor. Please don't paint the pub black and put really crappy gothy images all of the wall! .

Maybe I should just open my own pub and ill be happy then .

Yeah i concur, no massive cliches please, just a clean pub with capable staff serving drinks from clean lines with no hanging bats or owt

The Crew was always packed because of the amount of people from Coventry that had no where better to go!.....

Yes it is Mark, but as I've said, we do not charge a door price (except for charity events) and have a fixed budget with regards bands.
