Is anyone else signed up for this? They just paid us £600 for gigs that we've played!
I thought it was a con but it turns out not - sweet!

They collect royalties on your behalf and take a cut before giving them to you - great if you're not PRS registered. It's a bit of a pain entering your details after every gig but well worth it if you get a payout at the end of it!

Re: Sentric
i enrolled us after reading this yesterday, its a right admin and a half!
so do they take money from the venues then? and i assume any radio play you get paid for?
if thats the case i wonder if the gigs would soon dry up with promoters looking at free bands as per the norm.
cheers for giving us a heads up though, i'll no doubt get our stuff up on there over time

No it doesn't work like that. The venues have to have a PRS license to have live music on so Sentric deal directly with the PRS - the venues aren't involved. So you're just taking a cut of what you're entitled to really. It explains it better here - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sentric_Music
It does take ages to register all your songs when you first enrol but after that it only takes a minute or so to put each gig you play in because they save the different set lists that you play.
I don't know how many gigs we got paid for and it was literally 1/2p for each song but it adds up over time - and the best bit is it's free really ain't it!
