This month I have another three fantastic acts for you to enjoy!!
Jess Morgan http://www.jessmorgan.co.uk/
East Anglian born
singer-songwriter Jess Morgan actively writing and performing roots music that
is inspired by both the British and American Folk traditions. Morgan has a
distinct voice and an approach to song-writing that is extremely evocative.
Like storytelling - much of her repertoire involves plots and characters that
seem to be anchored in real places and times. Born and raised in the beautiful
countryside of Norfolk where she lives and takes great inspiration, Morgan is
passionate about being part of the music scene in Norwich.
Jess has also been spending a lot of time this year, gigging and recording in
Norway. In the heart of the thriving music scene in Bergen, where there is a
real appreciation and support in numbers for Jess’s sound. Her co-producer: HP
Gundersen has been accompanying Jess live playing Pedal Steel during their
two-week tour of Norway, which included shows in Bergen, Oslo, Sognal and
Stavanger; including the Bergen Americana Festival, an intimate home concert to
a select audience of listenees, and show at the Bergen’s Grieghalle to an
audience of over 800 people. She looks forward to playing at a festival this
Summer in the North of the country in the land of the Midnight Sun!
Jess travels up and down the UK and has had the opportunity to support some
fantastic American acts such as Jesse Sykes and the Sweet Hereafter, Teddy
Thomspon, Rod Picott and Amanda Shires.

"She is the business...all the glorious energy and lyricism of Bruce
Springsteen's very early material." - The Talk Magazine
"her voice sounds like it's been mellowing inside a seashell for years and
then suddenly it's been released above the ocean with the new days sun." –
PagesInTheBlues
“Jess Morgan exudes confidence and her music benefits massively from that
belief in herself; Jess Morgan is as individual as it gets and she delivers her
beautiful catchy goods with superb feeling and natural vibrancy.” – Toxic Pete
Stylus Boy http://www.myspace.com/stylusboy
Stylusboy is a singer
songwriter from Coventry playing melodic, delicate songs that warm the heart.
Stylusboy has been recording his debut release the ‘Fingerprint ep’ which is
out this summer. It is a collection of songs about love, hope and life that
Stylusboy recorded himself, mainly in his lounge. Live outings are an intimate
affair, where you are taken on a journey with his guitar and voice. 13 Shuffle
have described one Stylusboy song as “Purely fragile - a precious parcel
beautifully bubble-wrapped - handled with care & sincerity.”
Gren Bartley http://www.grenbartley.co.uk/
Gren Bartley's music is both
contemporary and heavily rooted in old blues and folk songs. Whilst the first
thing you'll hear is his virtuosity on guitar, it is his mature vocals and
poetically crafted lyrics that ensure the longevity of this young musician's
career. His first full solo album “Carry Her Safe” is a collection of original
songs and tunes, played on guitar and banjo. The album is being released
through Musician Records. A busy tour follows and he shall be making
appearances at folk clubs, acoustic venues and festivals across the UK.
His first demo CD released in 2005 titled "Detalina" received
fantastic reviews and gave him a solid foundation in the East Midlands music
scene. His second CD "e°g°" with fiddle sensation Tom Kitching, led
to a record deal with folk stalwarts Fellside Records. The duo now work
nationally with help from agents Emerging Music, and with the release of their
first album "Rushes" the future is looking bright. Gren's song
writing is still at the forefront of what he does and his progressing solo
career and continued work with Tom Kitching have offered him varying styles in
which to hone his craft. After a string of live and radio performances, It
won’t be long before Gren is a major force on the scene.
