Smileymic is currently looking for gigs

Michael Dryburgh started out as another singer/songwriter playing
open mic slots and some booked shows. After suffering a year of writers
block he bought a loop pedal to try and stimulate some creativity . It
soon became clear that the sound that was evolving was different from
the melancholic ballads he had written under his given name. Thus
Smileymic was born, playing several instruments into the looper he plays
a variety of styles ranging from acoustic to old school hip hop to drum
and bass to electronica. Not unlike a D.J would use samples and vinyl
Smileymic creates his loops live on stage to forge whole arrangements.

this genre is really difficult to take in and actually understand.

Don't try and label it - just enjoy it

Always good to see/hear something different. He plays a whole variety of venues from Leamington Assembly to The Rainbow in Digbeth - from The Golden Cross to VW and snowboarding Festivals and has even won Battle of the Bands Competitions (through several heats). He has supported some major artists - crowds love him

He says himself

"The way I see it I like different styles of music so I play different
styles of music. I play some acoustic singer songwriter stuff, I play
drum and bass style stuff I play hip-hop style beats with some funk
thrown in. I play guitar, bass, glockenspiel, trigger drums via my mac,
beatbox (although I do not class myself as a beatboxer) and loop vocals
into harmonies. I mix all of these elements together in the hope that I
can put on a good live show."
