Coventry Calling - Kasbah 24th July

Coventry Calling is a celebration of the 30th anniversary of the release of The Clash's London Calling.

December 1979 saw the release of what has been voted one of the greatest rock ‘n roll albums of all time. Thirty years on, who is taking on The Clash’s lethal combination of great tunes and social commentary?

In short: who’s still trying to tell it like it is!

Coventry Calling brings together four bands at the Kasbah, Coventry, to celebrate the spirit of ‘79, who although not necessarily straight out punk, are bands that have that Clash sensibility - either in a refusal to compromise, in their politics, or that it's just evident in their musical DNA. (No one’s talking about Clash tribute bands btw!!).

Headliners are Hull's The Talks who combine the raw smashing power of punk, with grinding rhythms of reggae and the energy of ska plus a good dose of pop sensibilities.

They are supported by three exciting Coventry bands:

If you buy tickets in advance from Kasbah, or contact any of the bands, or buy on the door between 9pm and 10pm, the total will be split between the four bands. If you buy after 10pm on the door, that ticket is lost to the musicians.
